Pardew: Nothing going forward

Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew has lamented their timid attack after suffering a 1-0 defeat against Aston Villa at Villa Park on Tuesday.

The Eagles had no reply to Joleon Lescott's 58th-minute goal, which was enough for Villa to claim their first win since opening day, while it was the fourth game in a row that Palace have failed to find the net.
"It's difficult to give my thoughts really," Pardew said. "The lack of offensive power going forward is becoming a problem. It really was a disjointed offensive display.
"We have to acknowledge that our quality, our game plan didn't come to light in the first half and it didn't come to light in the second half, so we've got some work to do."
Palace midfielder James McArthur was similarly critical of their performance, admitting that the team is struggling to find their rhythm at the moment, with two draws and two defeats from their last four league matches.
"We didn't perform," the Scotland international said. "They were better than us in most departments. We can't perform like that and expect to get a result.
"They've obviously come out fighting and we didn't do enough. It's very frustrating and disappointing as a team, especially when we've started the season well.
"All round as a team we were disappointing. We weren't quite at it, I don't know the reason why. I'm sure the manager will have a look at the videos of the game and try to make sure we don't do what we've done tonight again."
