Antonio Sanabria fires treble as Sporting Gijon end losing run

Sporting Gijon arrested a run of four straight defeats to move out of the relegation zone with a 5-1 demolition of Real Sociedad in La Liga.

Antonio Sanabria was the hero, firing a hat-trick to help lift his side into 17th spot on 18 points.

The hosts struck twice inside the opening 10 minutes through Carlos Carmona and Dani Ndi, but Carlos Vela halved the deficit before the interval.

Then Sanabria took over. The Paraguayan notched his first on the stroke of half-time, then added another two after the restart to complete a resounding win for Sporting.
