Maria Sharapova hopes to continue 'injury-free' start to year

Maria Sharapova hopes to continue 'injury-free' start to year

Maria Sharapova comes across little known Lauren Davis of the US apparently happy with her lot. The Russian athlete said she was content with the condition of her left forearm after a 6-2 6-1 win over Aliaksandra Sasnovich in the second round, but the fifth seeed gets another chance to test an injury that forced her to pull out of the Brisbane tournament a fortnight ago. Only time will tell if she is corrent about such a prognosis. The fans will certainly hope so with Sharapova on course to meet champion Serena Williams in the quarter-finals in Melbourne. Davis' best returns at a Grand Slam was reaching the third round of Wimbledon in 2014. Maria has been plugging Porsche on her Twitter feed so at least she has something to fall back on if the tennis goes wrong.
